Starting Again After Divorce: Why The Need For a Life Coach
When Life Changes Overnight
Divorce doesn’t just end a relationship.
It changes your identity, your direction, and how you see yourself.
For me, it wasn’t just about separation. It was about holding everything together while everything inside me was shifting.

At the same time, I was:
• Caring for my children, including a child with additional needs • Managing responsibilities at home – finances, bills, cooking, cleaning , etc • Navigating legal processes and Court – attending court, preparing court documents, arranging child care. • Being a full time carer for my Mum who had a stroke and dementia.
Life didn’t slow down.If anything, it became heavier.
🌪️ The Hidden Overloading
There’s a kind overloading that people don’t see.
It’s not loud.
It’s not dramatic.
It’s quiet… constant… exhausting.
It sounds like: ” I need to be strong for everyone.” “I can’t fall apart right now.” “There’s too much to do and not enough of me.”
Between court matters, parenting, and caregiving, I found myself asking:
“Where do I fit in my own life?”
As a mother, I didn’t get to pause. My children still need: • Stability • Love • Reassurance Even when I was unsure myself.
I learned quickly that: I had to be strong for your children…and still need support for myrself.
🌿 Caring for My Mum While Carrying Everything Else
Caring for my mum added another layer of emotion. There’s something deeply crushing about: Being the support system While quietly grieving your own life changes, being cared for to being the caregiver. At times, I feeling like: A parent A carer A problem-solver But not always… myself.
Question – “Would I care for my Mum again?” In a heartbeat. I would do all again and not change at. It was my honor to care and give her even a fraction of her 40+ she cared and loved me.
🌱 Why I Turned to a Life Coach. I didn’t need someone to tell me what to do.
I needed someone to help me think clearly again.
A Life Coach gave me: * Clarity when my mind was swamped. * Structure when everything felt Chaotic * Space to be heard without judgement * To recognize the existing tools I possessed to move forward
Most importantly, I realised: I wasn’t failing. I was navigating multiple roles without support.
🌿 The Turning Point
This is where everything began to shift.
I stopped trying to: Do everything at once Be everything to everyone
And started focusing on: One step One decision One clear plan
✨ What I Learned I am allowed to rebuild I don’t have to carry everything alone. Strength does not mean silence. Asking for help is not Weakness And most importantly:
My life didn’t end. It changed direction.
